Tebet Park will Be Revitalized into Tebet Eco Garden

This year, Jakarta City Park and Forestry Agency will revitalize Tebet Park in South Jakarta into Tebet Eco Garden.

The overall progress has touched 10 percent

Jakarta City Park and Forestry Agency's Data Center and Information (Pusdatin) Head, Ivan Murcahyo mentioned, Tebet Eco Garden is expected to restore function of the park ecologically, public space, education, and recreation for Jakarta residents.

This revitalization work includes river naturalization, children playground, bridge construction that connects north and south sides, community garden, and thematic garden.

"Progress of preliminary work such as clearing the area, preparing project area, mobilizing work tools, reaches 70 percent. While the overall progress has touched 10 percent," he said, Wednesday (6/2).

Tebet Park revitalization work uses liability financing scheme for Principal Approval of Land Release (SP3L) worth Rp 67 billion.

"Our estimation for its implementation is 8 months, with target of completion in December 2021," he added.

For information, here are work plans for revitalization of Tebet Park into Tebet Eco Garden;

a. Infinity connecting bridge will be built to connect Tebet Utara Park and South Tebet Park, which separated by Jalan Tebet Raya. This bridge will unite park activities, facilitate pedestrian and cyclist.

b. Grande Park that serves to restore park's function ecologically, becomes public interaction, education, and recreation for Jakartans.

c. River along the park will be naturalized by widening and changing embankment's profile thus it can be used as retention pond when it rains.

d. Unhealthy trees will be replaced. Naturalization will adjust to condition of existing vegetation.

e. It will have new facilities, such as jogging track, plaza, food center, thematic garden, nursery garden for farming community, and children playground.

f. Children playground's concept uses theme of animals in swamp habitat, such as gliding like a snake, jumping like a frog, and climbing like a squirrel.
